Description

Lake Gokyo is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is located in the Gokyo Valley in the Everest region, where 5 other lakes are also located. Lake Gokyo, also known as the "Third Lake", is extremely popular for its natural beauty and stunning blue water. The Gokyo Valley trek offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, rocky mountains, forests with rhododendron flowers and pine trees, as well as glaciers and culturally rich villages. Trips to Gokyo Ri also offer the best views of Mount Everest and other mountains of the region, as well as glaciers and beautiful lakes.

The Gokyo Valley Trek offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the culture and stunning beauty of the Himalayas, starting with a sightseeing flight to Lukla from Kathmandu and walking through the bustling village of Namche, also known as the gateway to Mount Everest. After the Namche bazaar, the trail goes left into the valley towards the Gokyo vai Mongla la danda valley, offering spectacular views of the mountains along the way. The trail continues to Dole through a forest of pines and rhododendron flowers.

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu(1300m/4264ft)

Firstly, on arriving in Kathmandu, our representative will pick you up from the airport. He/She will be holding up the signboard outside the airport terminal. You will then be escorted to your hotel. You can visit our office to get more information about the trek. In case you happen to arrive after 4 pm, you will be briefed about the trip by our authorized guide. Please make sure to carry along your passport, 3 copies of passport-sized photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. Also, make sure to clear any due balance and then sign on the legally binding trip form as well as the non-liability disclaimer form. You can stroll around the city in the evening. Stay overnight at the Hotel. No meals are included.

Day 2Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and prepare to meet your guide to check your equipment. We will arrange a meeting with other trekking members and discuss the trek. Afterwards, you can relax all day and prepare for the trek to Everest Base Camp. Another option is to do a cultural tour of the Kathmandu Valley or a day hike near Kathmandu through the jungle in preparation for the trek, but you will have to pay extra for this. We would recommend the best to do at the given time according to the weather conditions. Stay in a 3-star boutique hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding. (2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

Early in the morning we go to the airport according to the departure time to fly to Lukla (2800 m). It is a scenic flight of about 35 minutes that will give you a perfect view of the mountain range. Once at Lukla airport, meet our other trekking member there and have breakfast at the lodge. Before preparing the luggage for the porters, then the walk starts on the stone paved paths towards Bhaisekharka. It's just a few descents to Phakding and a walk past lots of prayer rocks (Mani in the local language). After reaching the lodge at Phakding, freshen up and take a short walk to the village or a trip to the Gompa to acclimatize. Stay overnight in the lodge.

Finally you reach the third lake which is Lake Gokyo. The cabins are located on the shore of the lake, which looks very nice. Stay overnight at the Lodge.

Day 9Explore day

Today we hike to Gokyo Ri for beautiful mountain views and probably the best view of Mt. Everest. It's a steep climb and hard walking, but once you climb up you'll see a better view. After taking photos from the summit, walk back down to the lodge for lunch and you can hike around the glacier. Stay overnight at the Lodge.

Day 10Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,779ft), 4-5 hrs walk

After breakfast in the hut, the trek descends slightly downhill towards Machhermo and continues to Dole. It is a pleasant walk through the valley.
