Royal Trek, the name alleged because back in the eighties, Prince Charles of England with 90 entourages, traveled this route. It is one of the shortest treks which follows a fern path along the north of the Pokhara valley in Annapurna. This will provide great opportunities filled with a cultural and various mix of people who reside in this region.
It’s a short trek in the Annapurna region which begins from the beautiful lakeside of Pokhara city which will drive to Bijaypur Khola then take you on a four-day loop in the Himalayan foothills and ends at Begnas Lake where we will catch a boat and then return back to Pokhara city.
This will be a pleasant brief trek, primarily for those who do not have time for a longer trek. The trek gives striking views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Machapuchare, Lamjung Himal, Dhaulagiri, and other adjacent peaks.
There will be no facilities, hotels or lodges, so groups and their staff must be fully self-sufficient. The Royal trek is only possible as a camping trek.
Day 1Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport
Firstly, on arriving in Kathmandu, our representative will pick you up from the airport. He/She will be holding up the signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be escorted to your hotel. You can visit our office to get more information about the trek. In case you happen to arrive after 4 pm, you will be briefed about the trip by our authorized guide. Please make sure to carry along your passport, 3 copies of passport-sized photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. Also, make sure to clear any due balance and then sign on the legally binding trip form as well as the non-liability disclaimer form. You can stroll around the city in the evening. Stay overnight at the Hotel. No meals are included.
Day 2Tour around the valley
We will start our day with a satisfying breakfast and leave around 8.30 am on a private vehicle and an authorized tour guide at your company. We will visit the world heritage sites around the valley, some including Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a famous five-storey temple of Nyatapola in Pagoda style Batsala temple, Dattatreya temple, Bhairavnath temple, Pujari Muth and Palace of 55 windows. Pashupatinath Temple is the sacred temple located on the bank of the holy Bagmati river. Although one cannot enter the main temple unless they are Hindus, you can see the temple and observe the activities performed from the eastern Bagmati river. Boudhanath Stupa is the biggest and holiest stupa built in the 5th century. You will find Buddhists pilgrims from all over the world especially Tibet, taking rounds of the stupa and spinning the prayer wheels. Then we can go for further exploration around the Thamel and shop for the next day’s trekking gears Stay overnight at the hotel. Breakfast included.
Day 3Drive to Pokhara
The next morning, our trekking will pick you up from the hotel at 6.30 am and drop you at the bus station. We will take a tourist bus to Pokhara at around 7.30 am ( 7 hours ) and explore the outskirts of the beautiful lake city. We will be driving along the Trishuli and Marsyandi River so one can expect to get an elegant view of the river banks. This will give you an immense opportunity to observe the green lush side of Nepal and enjoy the views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna in the north, as we move further away from Kathmandu. On reaching, you will spend the night at the hotel. Breakfast is included.
Day 4Drive to Bijayapur and Trek to Kalikathan (1,370 m) – 4.5 hours
The journey will start in the morning at 8:00 am with a 30-minute drive that will take us to Bijayapur after which we will trek uphill for about 3 to 4 hours passing through Brahman and Chettri villages. Skyline camp will be set up around the Kalikasthan area. Stay overnight at a tented camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Day 5Trek to Shaklung (1,730 m) – 4 hours
We will begin walking the trail which continues along the forested ridge top through Thulokot to Mati Thana, where you will find a few tea shops and then continue a moderate climb to Naudanda. We will continue along the ridge to a school at Lipini village, where we will make a steep but short climb through the forest to the Gurung village of Shuanmklung. Stay overnight at a tented camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Day 6Trek to Chisopani – 4 hours
We will continue along the trail that drops steeply down the south side of the ridge to a large tree, some tea shops, and a police check post. This is a trail terminal. The Royal Trek route climbs Chisopani looping around the back of the hill to the village. A short distance above Chisopani village is a high hill where you will find a small temple. This is the Chisopani Danda or the Chisapani ridge-top. The camp here gives splendid mountain views. Stay overnight at a tented camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Day 7Trek to Begnas and Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast, we will walk along the trail that descends along the field for an hour or so, and then descends steeply on the stone steps into a small valley near Rupa Tal. We will continue for a short distance through the rice field. Then we will make a final ascent to the ridge that separates Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal. From the ridge, we will descend into the Begnas Bajar and take 30 minutes to drive to Pokhara. Stay overnight at a hotel. Breakfast and lunch are all included.
Day 8Guided Sightseeing in Pokhara city
After a warm breakfast, we will begin our day-long tour around the city known for its beautiful lakes. You will be accompanied by our professional city guide on a private tourist vehicle and visit the following sites: Bindhyabasini Temple, lying in the center of the religious bazaar is said to have been built in the late 18th century by King Prithvi Narayan Shah. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Bhagwati, the protector of Pokhara. Davis Fall, a tremendous waterfall in Pokhara is surrounded by flora. It is different from the other falls due to its natural phenomenon. The waterfall is locally known as Patale Chhango. It is widely popular among tourists as well as locals. Gupteshwor Cave, located 2 km from the Pokhara airport is right across from Davis fall and the cave is almost 3 km long. It consists of some large rooms and passages where you have to crawl. The cave holds unique value to Hindus since a phallic symbol of Lord Shiva is preserved here in the condition it was discovered. Seti River Gorges, carved by the Seti Gandaki River is one of the natural phenomena of Pokhara. K.I. Singh bridge at Bagar, Prithivi Highway Bridge and Mahendrapool near bus park provide a perfect view of the river’s offensive rush and the deep gorge made by the uncontrolled flow of white water. Tibetan Refugee Camps- Tibetan village Tashiling in the south and the Tashi Palkhel village in the north of Pokhara are renowned for the production and trade of woolen carpets and other handicrafts. The first Tibetan homesteaders in this area relocated to Nepal in the late 50s. World Peace Pagoda is also known as Pokhara Shanti Stupa. It is a Buddhist pagoda-style monument. It is the reliquary built as a symbol of peace. The spot is located at the height of 2,100 m on the Ananda Hill. Nepal owns two of the 80 peace pagodas in the world which are Shanti Stupa in Lumbini (the birthplace of Buddha), and Shanti Stupa in Pokhara. It also provides a scenic view of the Annapurna range, Fewa Lake, and Pokhara city. Stay overnight at a hotel. Breakfast will be included.
Day 9Drive Back to Kathmandu (1400 m) in a Tourist Bus - 7 hours
After breakfast, we will return to Kathmandu, via a tourist bus which will take around 7 hours. In the evening, farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant will be organized with cultural performances. Stay overnight at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are included. If you wish to extend the trip and have some more time to spare, there are several options like adventure sports and other activities.
Day 10Transfer to the Airport
We will provide you with the morning breakfast. Lastly, our representative will escort you to the International airport a few hours before the scheduled flight.
