Mt. Annapurna, one of the most popular treks in Nepal, is the 10th highest mountain in the world with its basecamp at 4130m (13549 ft - height).
It is a preferred destination for its scenic mountain views which provides an insight into the modern mountain life of Nepal. Also, known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is a combination of views filled with the divine Himalayan peaks and great culture.
Annapurna base camp, usually abbreviated as ABC, sets out a unique and spectacular view. The glorious peaks of Annapurna I( 8091m), Annapurna South(7219m), Machapuchhre, known as fishtail (6993m) and Hiunchuli(6441m) surround the Annapurna basecamp. This trek is wholesome in terms of height and depth and the biodiversity it provides.
ABC is itself an attraction of this trekking trip. You will surely be blown away by the fully covered snowy landscape and glaciers.
Enroute you will find forest filled with rice paddies, rhododendron flowers, and terraced farming, giving you experience into the Nepalese culture. The trek will be one of the most unique journeys in the world.
The spring season will be the best time to encounter beautiful flowers like rhododendron and orchids, which will illuminate the trail with beaming colors. Along the way, you will come across Machhapure(Fishtail) massif as well as Kali Gandaki, the deepest gorge in the world and some beautiful waterfalls.
While on this journey, you will discover new cultures and traditions of local ethnic - Gurungs and Magars. You will also come across Loba and Thakali people.
People here, have small villages at the foothills of the Annapurna. Interesting encounters of Buddhist shrines and monasteries will make you contemplate the meaning of life and bring some change in diversity.
To begin with, the trek, drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where the trek starts at Nayapul. Followed by the Modi river, the trail passes through the forests densely filled with rhododendrons and bamboos.
Once you reach the Hinku caves, the gorge will narrow to a few 100meters wide.
With the Hiunchuli on your left and Machapuchare on your right from the entrance to the Sanctuary, you will discover snow-clad ridges falling. Entering into the sanctuary you will find yourself inside a huge amphitheater enclosed by solid walls of snow-capped peaks.
From this journey to the Annapurna basecamp, what you will get is sheer joy.
Day 1Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport
Firstly, on arriving in Kathmandu, our representative will pick you up from the airport. He/She will be holding up the signboard outside the airport terminal. You will then directly be escorted to your hotel. You can visit our office to get more information about the trek. In case you happen to arrive after 4 pm, you will be briefed about the trip by our authorized guide. Please make sure to carry along your passport, 3 copies of passport-sized photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. Also, make sure to clear any due balance and then sign on the legally binding trip form as well as the non-liability disclaimer form. You can stroll around the city in the evening. Stay overnight at the Hotel. No meals are included.
Day 2Tour around the valley
We will start our day with a satisfying breakfast and leave around 8.30 am on a private vehicle and an authorized tour guide at your company. We will visit the world heritage sites around the valley, some including Bhaktapur Durbar Square- the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Royal Residential Quarter of Bhupatindra Malla, is a famous five-storied temple of Nyatapola in Pagoda style Batsala temple, Bhairavnath temple, Duttatraya temple, Pujari Muth and Palace of 55 windows. Pashupatinath Temple is the sacred temple located on the bank of the holy Bagmati river. Although one cannot enter the main temple unless they are Hindus, you can see the temple and observe the activities performed from the eastern Bagmati river. Boudhanath Stupa is the biggest and holiest stupa built in the 5th century. You will find Buddhists pilgrims from all over the world especially Tibet, taking rounds of the stupa and spinning the prayer wheels. Then we can go for further exploration around the Thamel and shop for the next day’s trekking gears Stay overnight at the hotel. Breakfast included.
Day 3Drive to Pokhara.
The next morning, our trekking will pick you up from the hotel at 6.30 am and drop you at the bus station. We will take a tourist bus to Pokhara at around 7.30 am ( 7 hours ) and explore the outskirts of the beautiful lake city. We will be driving along the Trishuli and Marsyandi River so one can expect to get an elegant view of the river banks. This will give you an immense opportunity to observe the green lush side of Nepal and enjoy the views of Macchapuchhre and Annapurna in the north, as we move further away from Kathmandu. On reaching, you will spend the night at the hotel. Breakfast is included.
Day 4Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedunga
We will begin our trek from Nayapul after an hour-long drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we will reach Birethanti (1,015 m), a huge village with several shops and teahouses. From there, we will continue through the village and follow the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail escalates firmly up the side of the valley to Hille at an altitude of 1,495 m. After a short ascent, we will reach Tikhedhunga at an altitude of 1,570 m. The walk is supposed to be short and easy today, preparation for the trekking experience in the Annapurna region. Stay at the guesthouse overnight. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 5Trek to Ghorepani
After breakfast, we will continue our trek to Ghorepani (2840m) - it takes about 5 hours. Throughout you will discover small but spectacular waterfalls, fine bridges, forests of oak and rhododendrons and children walking to schools. Then we will trek towards Nangethanti (2460 m) from where Ghorepani is just an hour walk away. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 6Trek to Poon Hill and Tadapani
Then early morning we will continue our trek to Poon hill (3210m). After a few hours of a steep climb will offer an awestruck view of the pastel sunrise. We will spend one-hour and then return to Ghorepani where we will have a warm breakfast. We will ascend along the ridges and walk along with pine and rhododendron forests on our way to Deurali (2960 m). Then we will take a descending route to Banthanti and stop at Tadapani. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 7Trek to Chomrong
We will recommence our trek early in the morning with downhill through rhododendron forests and then reach Gurjung, the village of Gurung people. After several zigzag trails and forests of oak and rhododendron, we will reach Chomrong, a village rich in agriculture which covers the entire hill(2140m) - it will take about 5 hours. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 8Trek to Himalayan Hotel
The path will drop down to the Chomrong Khola and we will resume the climb to Khuldighar at 2,380 m where once used to be an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area) check post. There is a clearing in the forest a little further on, from which, the course travels very steeply down a rock, then levels out, running through hedges of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river. We will walk through bamboo and rhododendron forests to the Himalayan Hotel. After a descending route along the stoned-step trails, we will reach the Himalaya Hotel which will take about 6 hours. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 9Trek to Annapurna Base camp
Today we will trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) which takes about 7 hours. The route is mostly jungle and uphill. If the weather’s clear, we can catch a glimpse of an eternal yellow-brown sunset from up. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 10Trek to Bamboo
After continuing our trek from Annapurna to Bamboo (2345 m) we will be passing through a forest filled with bamboo. The trail will drop by an altitude of 1,700 m to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2,345 m where there are some teahouse/lodges available to stay at. Stay overnight at a guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 11Trek to Jhinu - 5 hours
The next early morning, we will follow the path until Chomrong, from where it is a steep slope. We will pass Khuldighar, where you will discover sheep farm. The route will continue through rhododendron and bamboo fields. The path descends very steeply to Jhinu. Stay overnight at a Guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 12Trek to Naya Pul - Drive to Pokhara - Tour of Barahi Temple and Fewa Lake
Then we will continue the trek towards Nayapul (1,010 m). From Jhinu Modi Khola at our right, the walk is considered as one of the most relaxing walks throughout the entire trek. On reaching Nayapul, we will drive our way back to Pokhara which will take around 5.5 hours. We will check you into the hotel and then after a while, we will make pitstop at Fewa Lake for our boating trip to Barahi Temple Stay overnight at a Hotel. Breakfast and lunch are included.
Day 13Return to Kathmandu- 7 hours
After breakfast, we will return to Kathmandu, via a tourist bus which will take around 7 hours. In the evening, farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant will be organized with cultural performances. Stay overnight at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are included. If you wish to extend the trip and have more time there are more options like adventure sports and several other activities.
Day 14Transfer to the Airport
We will provide you with the morning breakfast. Lastly, our representative will escort you to the International airport a few hours before the scheduled flight.
